Advertising Parties

There's only one more day until the official First Day of Summer! This is the season when Club Penguin has most of their "advertising" parties. Disney is advertising their latest movie, Monsters University, by having a Monsters University Takeover this month. I'm not really against this because I think it's okay for them to have a commercially themed party every once in a while, but now they're taking it too far. I found out from my friend, Ferdthebird, that the Club Penguin Support Team confirmed the Star Wars Takeover will be happening sometime this summer.

This is an outrage! I'm sick and tired of Club Penguin being unoriginal and uncreative by recycling ideas from pop culture. I was discussing this topic with Auwdwee242 and she said, "...Let's have our traditional parties, and maybe some polls for what other parties should happen." This is a great idea! Club Penguin actually had us vote for what party theme we wanted a couple of years ago in 2007 when they valued our opinion.

Do you like advertising parties?

Cyberbullying in the Club Penguin Community

This is a serious issue especially in the Club Penguin Twitter community lately with all the hacking, scamming, etc. With that in mind, I decided to post about it. Some people don't understand the difference between bullying and constructive criticism.

Cyberbullying is, "The use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner." Criticising means to, "Indicate the faults of someone or something in a disapproving way." Sometimes people get these words confused which leads to a lot of misunderstandings.

Criticising someone's behavior does not make you a bully as long as you don't go out of your way to offend them on purpose by calling them names, making fun of them, etc. For example, many people (including me) don't agree with Saraapril's biased, negative, and disrespectful view of Club Penguin and its staff.

I've called her out on it a few times on Twitter without being rude and she blocked me along with many other people. Then I saw tweets from her supporters implying anyone who talks bad about her is a bully. That's not true. It's all about what you say and how you say it. Some people do take things too far and can be very insulting, but a lot of people who she blocked were voicing their opinion in a non-hurtful way.

One of the best things you can do is resolve conflict before it escalates. There's a big difference between standing up for yourself and being a bully. Even I have goofed up on this subject once or twice.

Sincerely apologizing to each other is the quickest way to end this type of disagreement. If they give you a fake apology by saying one thing and doing the opposite move on and don't communicate with them anymore.

Here's some advice for those of you who get bullied:
  • Don't let bullies get to you. I did and almost quit Club Penguin because the stress was overtaking me. Don't let them win by taking away things that make you happy.
  • Remember their opinion about you isn't important or valid. You are not what they say you are. Never forget that.
  • If you have to block and ignore them that's okay. Sometimes they'll make cruel comments because they want to get you upset and start a fight. Don't give them that satisfaction.
You may not know this, but cyberbullying has a big effect on the community. I know tons of people who've quit Twitter because they didn't want to deal with all the drama that goes on. Twitter has really changed since I created my account almost a year ago. Back in my day, there were no scammers, haters, etc. Everyone was really nice and we got along just fine. All of that changed in only a few short months and now look where we are.

Bullying should be illegal. On second thought, people should be more aware of how their words effect their peers. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." If people actually followed those words bullying wouldn't exist.

I would like to commend the Twitter account @CPStopBullying for being a great help to the Club Penguin Twitter community. That is what true kindness looks like. You can always find the anonymous owners encouraging penguins and solving disagreements. They are a role model to us all.

My Penguin App Update

My Penguin, Club Penguin's latest app, updated last Thursday. First, the minor updates. The app icon has been changed. It now has a ninja mask to represent Card Jitsu Snow.

Puffle Rescue and Pufflescape have been updated with new levels. They're not exclusive. You can play them on Club Penguin's site.

The major updates is Card Jitsu Snow has been added to the app!

Gameplay is AMAZING! There's no lag at all unlike when you play on a computer or in my case an iPad using a Flash web browser. It's Card Jitsu Snow as it was meant to be. If only it would work this well on computers. Even using a Mac doesn't stop the lagging.

There's also been an update to the clothing catalog. It has the latest items from the in-game version along with a few new exclusive items.

I love exclusives, but I feel bad for the people who can't get them. The above page is for members only which makes them even harder to get.

What do you think about the updates?

Penguin Style June 2013 Review

This month's catalog has the smallest amount of "new" items I can remember! Prepare for a really short review.

Don't get excited. The cover shows the only actual new outfits. That's right, there are only two. I'm trying really hard not to turn into Saraapril and complain about it all.

This whole page is irrelevant to me since I'm not a boy.

I only brought the dress. I never purchase wigs until I see what it looks like on a penguin sprite. I should have heeded that advice when buying the dress because it looks ugly on my penguin. Waste of coins. Good thing I have 30,000+ thanks to all my hours of playing Card Jitsu Snow.

These aren't new clothes. I already have the entire outfit on the left page. At least they look better than what's on the previous pages.

That's all there is! A total of 6 new items. Club Penguin took a shortcut and filled most of the new pages with one outfit and pictures to take up space because they couldn't be bothered designing more clothes. Maybe they were busy working on the upcoming parties, but they should be able to manage their time more effectively.

Catalog Rating: 5/10

Card Jitsu Party 2013 Review

I was going the name this post the "Celebration of Snow," but that name doesn't really fit the party. All Club Penguin did was recycle some old room designs from the 2011 Card Jitsu Party. Plus, the focus was more on Card Jitsu as a whole instead of the element of Snow. Now, on to the actual review!

This year's Card Jitsu party was awesome! I'm going to try my best not to be biased and post the facts and not just my one-sided opinion. I admit Club Penguin should have taken the time to design some new decorations more focused on Snow, but I loved the Card Jitsu Party in 2011 so I don't really mind. The good thing is we get to see the old Coffee Shop again!

I wish this party had latest forever. Oh, I came up with a better idea! What if Club Penguin made it so you could choose what past party you want to attend and you could be transported there? Maybe through one of Gary's inventions? It could be a permanent feature. I should email the Club Penguin Team about this.
